HOW to ADOPT
Our adoption process is a simple one. Come by, fall in love
with one (or more) of our adoptees, fill out an application,
sign our contract (detailed below) and pay the adoption fee.
Upon approval of your application, you can take your new
friend home.

The adoption fee is $60.00 for each dog or cat you adopt.
Included in this fee are one set of vaccinations, deworming, a
certificate for a free rabies vaccination from your veterinarian
and a certificate for spaying or neutering the animal (if it is
not already sterilized). Senior Citizens will receive a $10.00
discount. Taking all this into account, it's a tremendous
bargain.

We feel very strongly about all of the animals we place for
adoption. Therefore, in order to adopt a pet from us you are
required to adhere to some guidelines as set forth below.
You understand that all dogs and cats adopted from us must
be spayed or neutered if not already done so at time of
adoption. No exceptions.

You understand that sterilization of the animal you are
adopting is required under Chapter 828, Texas State Health &
Safety Code, and that a violation of this chapter is a criminal
offense punishable as a Class C Misdemeanor. Sterilization
must be completed by 30 days from the date of adoption in
the case of an adult animal, or 30 days from a specified date
estimated to be the date an adopted animal becomes six
months old.

No large dogs will be adopted to apartment dwellers.

If you are a renter, a letter from your landlord must be
received giving you permission to have a pet.

If at any time, for any reason, you can no longer care for the
pet you are adopting, you must return it to the Fayette
County Animal Shelter. It cannot be given away or sold.

You must agree to provide humane care for the pet, including
adequate water, food, shelter, sanitation, exercise, personal
attention and veterinary care.

You understand that the Fayette County Animal Shelter
makes no guarantees or representations about the adopted
animal's health or temperament, and the Fayette County
Animal Shelter expressly disclaims responsibility or liability for
pets that become ill, die or inflict injuries on people or animals.
I also understand that failure to comply with the terms of
adoption may result in confiscation of the adopted pet or legal
action can be taken against me.
